Connected Action Roadmap (CAR)
View the latest brochure
CAR is a three-day in-district program that connects the Common Core State Standards, student learning, professional learning, and teacher and leader effectiveness to the work of professional learning communities (PLCs). This training uses a roadmap metaphor to describe the focus of this learning.
Travel (take action) on roads (foundations of effective practice) that are directly connected to your destination (student learning). Stop veering off in different directions spending time, energy and resources on disconnected initiatives.
Develop a strategic plan that integrates the development of professional learning communities with curriculum, effective instruction, assessment and shared leadership in a way that enhances student achievement. This is an excellent way to build your staff’s understanding of the new Common Core and of how they will be assessed. Don’t embark on your journey to develop professional learning communities without understanding their role as a driving force for school change. Say “no” to more initiatives and “yes” to a connected plan of action that gets you moving in the right direction.
To be trained by FEA, contact Jay Doolan or Linda Walko at (609) 860-1200 for more information.
